Technical Engineering Standards for Inland Waterway Management Project, Vietnam |
The development of the IWT system is one of the pillars of the transport sector and infrastructure development policy of the Government of Viet Nam. The objective of the project is to provide the Client with (i) a set of up-to-date national standards, guidelines and construction and maintenance specifications including bid documentation for inland waterway related works,(ii) national standards and guidelines for vessels using the waterways, and (iii) the necessary institutional capability to implement these systems. After design and construction, it is also necessary to apply the standards for monitoring and maintenance for initiating an asset management system for the IWT infrastructure.
Services provided by within the assignment are review, evaluation and updating of technical engineering standards for inland waterway management in Viet Nam. The existing standards are mainly based on Russian, Japanese and Chinese standards and have to be up-dated based on the recent European, Dutch, British and American standards. The standards comprise:
- navigation channel design;
- river training works design and maintenance;
- navigation channel dredging;
- fleet and cargo guidelines;
- inland waterway and port classification;
- general contract specifications;
- navigation aids.
All up-dated standards will have to respect the new inland waterway act and existing transport safety and environmental protection regulations. |
