Integrated coastal zone management 
The ultimate objective of Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) is to minimise long term conflicts in coastal and marine areas between man and nature by creating conditions for long term sustainable development. We have expertise in all phases of ICZM, whether the problem is analysis, the planning and capacity building or the implementation of the results.

Integrated river basin management 
Sound, integrated river basin management requires an appropriate institutional and legislative system. In the process of developing management plans, a parallel exercise is frequently the assessment of existing and required institutional structure. An important aspect of this is transfer of knowledge and training. We have the experience and expertise in aspects such as training, planning, legislation and economics to carry out this work and have undertaken commissions in this regard in numerous countries worldwide. The services cover both planning as well as operational stages.

We place a high importance on understanding physical processes when developing sustainable solutions. We have modelling experts and practitioners with a broad technical base and considerable track record in numerical modelling of waves, tides and sediment transport, whether it be offshore windfarms, coastal strategies, beach erosion, beach evolution, coastal flood forecasting systems or wave penetration into harbours. This expertise is also used in the derivations of design conditions for breakwaters and other coastal structures.

Rivers
We provide practical solutions to the most challenging of problems, whether that is finding a way to protect communities from flood or devising methods to maximise the precious water resource for the competing and often conflicting needs along the river.
